My Designer Dog Food
I have an extensive background in food preparation, nutrition and biology and with that, I have become "diet specific" in creating foods for my American Akita, "VenAca".
I have reached the point whereas I can control the consistency and color of my puppy's fecal matter. *Anyone with a history in nutrition can interpret what that means.

An Akita is an investment
I need to sell the sports yacht and move back overseas permanently or I'll need a houseboat. "VenAca' should have a girlfriend.
You can purchase a decent Akita puppy for right around $1000 and for a good one, look to spend from $2500 to $4000.
I hope you've read at least two Akita "specific" books if you're about to make a purchase.
"Typically an Akita puppy will be skittish and leery of people, loud noises and unfamiliar places, sooner than later you'll have to make a choice.
Socialize your Akita and bring him/her to the level of "friendly" that you feel as though you need "or"...
You can do what I'm doing with VenAca by isolating him to be a guard dog. Either avenue will have its consequences.
The socialized route is a bit less hairy as all good Akitas will protect their owner and family but the Akita will still be a pet. I travel the world and I'm opting for another guard dog.
"VenAca" will need muzzle before he's 16 months old which inherently has it;s conflicts
I'll be back to add to this post, take care.

Information about the American Akita
The larger, more heavier-boned of the two types of Akita, the American Akita was developed during the middle of the 20th century from fighting dogs brought back from Japan. Although both the American Akita and Japanese Akita Inu derive from common ancestry there are distinctive differences between two. The most obvious difference aside from size and structure would be coloration, the Japanese style Akita is only permitted to be red, fawn, sesame, white, or brindle; whereas the American Akita is acceptable in all colors. Additionally, the American Akitas may be pinto and/or have a black mask, unlike Japanese style Akitas where that is not permitted by the breed standards and would be considered an instant disqualification in the show ring. As a general rule, the more heartily built American Akita, in overall appearance is more bear-like, the Akita Inu on the other hand, with its more delicate features
